Why didn't she have her own gun on her? With a permit, I mean. All she'd have to do is move to Vermont or Alaska (in both States, she could legally carry a gun without a permit). Either that or move to Utah, where she could get an emergency permit (being in the WPP would be sufficient to warrant it) within 24 hours, and not have to wait the month or two that permit approval usually takes. I realize that being unarmed is better for the damsel in distress plot line, but it's just not becessary.
