Is This a copy..???

Is this film inspired from some other film??.....coz I saw a malayalam film just like this called 'perumazhakalam' (which was released much before this)..and it has the same story set in a different background. Since it is highly unlikely that nagesh got inspired by the malayalam flick (unlikely , not impossible) , I am wondering whether the two films got the same inspiration???....
