Mai Hime or Mai Otome?

There's a spin-off sequel to this series called, Mai-Otome, did anyone knew and watch that anime? But which is better in your opinion?

Mai Otome is actually pretty good, but not nearly as good as HiME, IMO. It is nice to see new characters take some of the lead roles and see some classic characters back again, but you don't even see Mai or Mikoto for most of the series.

that's why it's best to advise others to watch it in reverse.

experience the nice combat and fast pace of mai otome, then indulge in the raw emotion and deep story of mai hime.

I think Mai Hime is better because of the emotion and deep storyline, Mai Otome although I am only on episode 5 so far, is more about action and not really the emotion. It seems good so far though.

Otome is slightly better for me . Because of richer plot, less "stuffing scenes" and not so cliche ending. On the other hand I gave both 10/10.

I like them both the same!
They're both so fun and exciting!

Otome has better
-Animations
-Fight scenes
-A more coherant story.

Mai Hime though had better characters. At least Otome didn't resurrect it's entire cast in a stupid way. But still, I think Mai is one of the coolest lead gals in anime history. Arika is pretty good too, but feels more like your typical "dumb girl" heroine.

I like Otome. Materialise! It's neat how the Gem represents their personality. Nina was my favorite Otome until she became the black Diamond. Then she disgusted me with the following episodes. Otome is more entertaing to watch. More fights and comical stuff. Shiho is more tolerated in Otome. in Hime she was just anoying to me.

go ahead, struggle, i'll just make it hurt worse

I vote for Otome.

Hime.

Mai Hime had better dramatic scenes and also better characters. I also liked the storyline better.

Mai Otome is more like your typical magical girl anime. Especially the lead girl fits inot this. We also don't get any character development, which was exactly why Hime was so great in the first place. It was also full oh hald-hearted storylines that were all over the place. I would say it was directed at a younger audience.

Mai Hime 10/10

Mai Otome 5/10 and for younger kids 6/10

I think that Mai HiME was a better series. Mai Tokiha was such a great character that I really related with, while Arika just didn't give me the same kind of emotional connection.

I agree, Arika just didn't come off as very likable compared to Mai. When I watched Hime the first time, I got chills from several of the battles towards the end of the series. With Otome, I never felt as invested emotionally. The music is cool in both, though.
