I found some pictures.

I didn't take them myself, I found them in a message board on
Ultimatedisney.com in a post from the user, lighthousemike. The user said they were from a trailer on the upcoming Little Mermaid DVD. I love the animation style, Check them out. ( just copy and paste )

Sorry, I am not familiar with "Victoria", kracked_guitar. Who is she?

reply

She's a character in the movie. It's a name on the cast list.

I think the movie itself IS 2D animation... I personally believe that it's just the bits in Victoria's real world that are 3D... when she goes to the airies' world, I think it's 2D - or at least I'm praying it is :P

Never sight for a better world:
It's already composed, played and told...

While I do love 2-D animation, I think that the CGI stuff they've done for this is *gorgeous*. I'm curious though--why are they putting this straight to DVD? Not like I know much about animation, but from the pictures and the trailer that I found online, it looks like movie material.

Personally i've found that a lot of Animations (cartoons if you would rather) are streight to video instead of being made for a theatrical release....

I personally do not know what the reason for this could possibly be, especially since Disney re-releases a clasic movie at a rate of about maybe 2 or 3 a year, and most of these were at one time theatrical in nature.... it would seem to me that they would try to make money off puting it on the big screen again one more time before releaseing it again for home audiences (then again by now who doesn't already have a copy of the majority of the disney movies they truely want to have)

I'm all for a CGI or a 2-D animation movie, for my taste what makes or breaks anything is when the casting drops the ball.... Especially when all you see of the actors is their voices, this is especially important to fit the right person to the right character.... but i will say this, if any company has shown they know how to cast an animated feature it is disney....

As far as I know, this movie will be a 3d animation, and is being animated in PRANA studios, India. This is exceptional for the Indian Animation market. I just couldnt realize we had this much of talent in India.

You can see all kinds of pictures from the movie and you can even create your own fairy if you go to:
