Kindly Fairy to Murdering Jealous Vixen

Am I the only one who found it a bit more than odd in Tinkerbell's personality twist. Here she goes to great lengths to bring joy to Wendy Darling. Repairing the music box and giving it to her. In a few years Tinkerbell will be plotting how to kill her. When Wendy steals Tink's man. Not sure if the folks at Disney thought that one out.

I'm going with the book explanation: "Tink was not all bad: or, rather, she was all bad just now, but, on the other hand, sometimes she was all good. Fairies have to be one thing or the other because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time."

I like the JM Barrie explanation provided by Zero_Enthusiast :) But I have to admit that I intensely disliked the character alterations made to Tink compared with the original Disney character. Nothing except her appearence resembles the character I know and love from childhood.

I guess Tinkerbell has an Anakin Skywalker character arc.

I just figured that after this she started hanging out with Vidia, who then taught her her ways.

I think we just have to accept that the Tink in these movies doesn't resemble the one this company originally gave us. Apparently, the most important part of the brand is her appearance, and that is all they really need to market. Get her a little extra visibility with some new movies, and put her on anything that a kid could want.

I would have loved a character that stayed true to the original, but I don't think anyone had a clue how to write her so that she make money in today's PC red-state climate.
