2. Better weapons (Yea the chainsaw is cool but its not everything.)

Still haven't got round to getting halo 3, which is funny considering it was the game I was most anticipating for ages.
I bought a 360 purely for GOW and I do love it, but I don't find it as replayable as I find the halos to be.
I like the violence of it and the dialogue more than the previous halos.
But ultimately I would say they are 2 very dfferent games (apart from the bit you have to protect the flying robot dude while he opens the door)
GOW had great environments, but then so does halo...
I love both!
For me it's kind of a toss up, but one thing is for sure, the lead characters in Gears are so much more hard than the characters in Halo. I mean seriously the dudes in Gears are ridiculous bad asses.
Also Halo has cool vehicles and all, but it doesn't really have cover combat which I always thought would be sweet in Halo. Plus while 1st person is the sh!t third is also cool because you have a much better view of what is going on around you.
It's like apples and oranges, hard to pick which is better. Maybe Halo because it's bigger with huge vehicle battles mixed in to add some flavor to the gameplay.

oh its all good bro, yea gears vs halo is close but i have to say the halo 3 XBL is better but Gears Co Op is WAYYYY BETTER

Gears of War XBL VS. HALO 3 XBL halo wins 70% to gears 30%
Campeign: Gears of war wins 65% to halo's 35%

Can't really say, its close, I think I sort of prefer Gears, I have a thing for 3PS, and the graphics, violence, and battle system are all quite realistic, you go down after a handful of rounds, you need to take cover, you shoot someone and they blow apart, its great...
as far as epic scale goes though, Halo definately, but as when talking in terms of gritty, bloody warfare, its Gears all the way...

Gears is better in every way in my opinion. It has a better story, better characters (more involving as well,) better enemies (the locust horde are at times pretty freaky,) and the gameplay is just generally superior to Halo. Anyone else think that Halo 3 was overrated and, compared to a lot of other 360 games (The Orange Box, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Gears of war) pretty poor?
shareI don't really think that about it being poor in comparison. Halo has equal to better gameplay than many games. One of the few main things it lacks that Gears has is cover fighting.
Halo has pretty massive vehicle battles, tons of weapons and gadgets, multiple grenades and you don't have to select grenades as a separate weapon. It all depends how you look at it because Gears and the others have a lot of cool aspects that Halo doesn't have. Personally I like Halo on a similar level to Bioshock and Orange Box, I like many of it's aspects more than the games you mentioned, but I also like things about those games more than Halo.
I hope Gears 2 has bigger maps, like the big Halo map size, and maybe some more vehicles, that could really ramp up the gameplay.

Omg i think Halo has to be the most overrated game ever. Singleplayer is a bore and the gameplay generally sucks. You can jump like 15 feet in the air and cant aim down the sights with half the guns. And multiplayer? Who wants to play with a bunch of 12 year olds whose names are all "Halo3pwnsmysoxofflololol"? Imo, gaylo doesnt even come close to touching Cod4 or gears in multi or singleplayer.

1. I love FPS's too, but you should have some tactics in FPS's. Gears's cover system is great but Halo is pretty stupid considering you're in open ground getting shot at.
2. I prefer to blow people's heads off instead of hoping the Needler swings around a rock to get them.

4. I disagree. But Gears is riddled with plotholes.
5. Hell no. I played Halo 2 and 1 and didn't give a rat's ass about the characters. The Gears are guys I want around in a firefight.

halo one and two are okay but three was way off first of all the needler was too strong as well as the melee attacks for halo. Gears is supposed to be a triligy like halo so we will see how the outcome is. gears is a good solid game and deserves credit for being a good game. gears is one of the best games out there.

I Love the weapons, and the humor. And it is made by Epic, and reminds me of UT.
But it can get a bit boring after awhile.
Halo has more weapons, it has vehicles. And it has a story that I really enjoy, with some things that remind me of some of my favorite movies (The Thing, and Aliens.), So over all I love both games. But if I had to pick my choice would be Gears.
