1 problem with the series

Sticky Fingaz i think did a good job playing blade but i rather have wesley snipes as blade but the only thing that made me mad about the series is that they made blade not as badass as he was in the movies it just seems like he got his ass handed to him every time he went up against a vampire.

reply

I agree Sticky did a decent job of filling snipes shoes I haven't watched the episodes in a long while tho so I can't much comment on him getting his ass handed to by every vamp he ran up against tho to be fair I know there were quite a few times he was forced to hold back so that krista didn't get found out.

AS much as I would have loved to see wesley snipes reprise the role when the series came around it just wasn't gonna happen. I doubt he would have lowered himself to doing a tv series even if its for a character hes famous for and even if he had a major beef with David S. Goyer over his salary for Trinity oh and there was that whole tax fruad indictment thing lol

reply

Its not like it takes much to act the charcater of Blade, just get some big black guy whos balder than a bastard and their ya go

reply

I disagree. Sticky Fingaz did a horrid job imo. I actually preferred the series when they began to focus less on him which is a little odd to say since the series is about Blade.

Sticky Fingaz was the reason this thing tanked. AWFUL in every way possible. He couldn't shoot action and had no appeal or presence whatsoever. I'd have shifted to Jill Wagner to if I were the writers and producers of this show.

reply

I don't know who in their RIGHT mind would favor Sticky Fingaz over Wesley Snipes performance as Blade. Wesley Snipes could act CIRCLES around this dude. Plus, Wesley (pay your taxes, DUDE!) actually has a martial arts background and can physically do most of his stuff. He knows how to fight. Sticky Fingaz doesn't know how to fight! In every action scene in the episodes that I'd bothered to watch, this joke was getting his butt handed to him left and right by "target practice" for Wesley Snipes' Blade. Wesley is STILL the better man.

reply

The main problem of the series was the guy who was trying to play blade, he did a bad job in my opinion, tried to make blade into a slow-minded former gangster thug with a few hours of fight choreography per episode, I mean the blade comics has a lot of vampire fighting and stuff like that, and this "Sticky Fingers"(which is a stupid name if anything IMO)guy couldn't even pull off good fight scenes half of the time, they seemed clunky, sluggish and obviously staged.

So the series was a failure and most of the blame was the acting ability of "Sticky Fingers" but the comics were pretty good.

reply

UFC fighter Chuck Liddell played a tattoo artist in the pilot. He gets to get punked by Sticky who had some pretty lame moves. You could see Chuck purposely lumbering and throwing deliberately slow and wide punches. The things we're forced to do for a buck.

reply

Exactly my point, Chuck could noticeably kick the unliving crap out of Sticky if he was allowed to and Chuck is a human, Blade is supposed to be a fast, strong and seriously deadly half-vampire. Sticky should stick to what he is good at(I don't know what that is), because I know it isn't acting.

reply

If Snipes had taken the part for the series, it would never had gotten past the pilot episode. Sticky did an okay job.

reply

Ummm Sticky did a crap job, very under par. If Snipes were to have been given the opportunity to play Blade again, not only would it have seen more episodes than Sticky's version, but Snipes probably wouldn't have accepted the job because it would be beneath him to do a television show after being a movie star.
The only problem with Snipes version of Blade is the crappy fight choreography, which may or may not have been Snipes fault.

reply

Snipes cannot act his way out of a paper bag. Sticky is no great thespian either, but he did a better job than Snipes. The series blows all three movies out of the water.

LOL. You can stop with the joke now.

reply

Sorry, Snipes as an actor is a joke that just won't stop. I enjoyed the series far more than the crappy movies.

Sorry. Snipes as an actor is a joke that just won't stop. I enjoyed the series and will re-watch it in the future. The movies just didn;t work as well for me. I lked Trinity better than the first two, though, mainly becuae Snipes has very little actual screentime. His stand-in/stunt double was on camera more than he was.

reply

WoW dude are you crazy or a fanatic of Sticky's? Sticky did a crap job on the series, that cannot be debated. As for Snipes, I think he could have acted Blade a lot better, but I know for a fact he was better with the Blade character than Sticky was.

Sticky's portrayal of Blade was a slow/sluggish thug with some extra strength. The kid who played the young version of Blade during his blood thirst trials and tribulations acted better than Sticky did throughout the entire series. So how can you honestly say he acted the Blade role better than Snipes? Please explain with detail how you can come to that conclusion. Please?

Get off Sticky's nuts and use your brain.

I'd never even heard of Sticky before the series. Your opinion is no more valid than mine. You like what you like and I'll like what I like. Your snide insults are not necesary.

#1 Where did I make "snide insults" against you?
#2 My opinion is based on logic and watching the entire series up until it got cancelled.
#3 You first brought up that Sticky acted better than Snipes with the Blade role so why did you bring up your opinion if you are just going to say "you like what you like and I'll do the same"? You should have just said "I liked the series personally."

reply

THE ONLY PROBLEM the first series had was it had SpikeTV as it's master.

"Storming the Castles. Swords in the air. Killing the Monsters in their own lair."

reply

I'm re-watching it now. Sticky is OK as Blade, serviceable at least. He's a solid actor as well, usually he plays his roles with more personality...even though they are bit parts. Wesley took a character and made something out of him, gave him a personality. The real problem with the show wasn't the fights...cmon now it's TV, Spike TV at that. It's not like TV shows have great fights EVER. But Sticky got better as time went on.

The problem with this show was that they used the movie as a backdrop, so they really didn't start off in the show with something that you can build from. You were dropped into an already existing world, complete with exposition. If you didn't watch the Blade movies, you were already lost.

reply

Not sure if you did not see the movies you were lost. Was a shame Wesley did not do the role but guess after what happened on trinity and with it bring a tv series he didn't want to.

The force will be with you always...

reply

I agree, the problem with this show was them connecting it to the movies. Blade as a character is more than interesting enough to where they totally could've just made it an original show. The episode where they introduced the guys from his past (The Bad Bloods) is proof of that.

A boat that floats on water can also sink in it.

reply

You know what is a problem with the whole series? IT ENDED WITH A FKN CLIFFHANGER that's what. Even today I'm still annoyed at that.
