for anyone who has seen outsourced, theres this one part in his stand up i don't quite understand. This is around 43:15 of the dvd, where he starts talking about how Indian people don't understand his surname.. it goes like this..

Russell: you're not christian are you? yes i am
Audience member: you from the south?
Russell: no im not from the south, see im not one of them. i know what your thinking, im not one of them. Those were converts, i was mixed. we don't know when the mixed happened, it just happened

anybody know what he is referring to with "converts"? im not familiar with indian history at all and need to crave my curiosity!

most Indian Christians are from South India in states like Kerala. They converted to Christianity from hinduism. Russell's British ancestors are the reason his family is Christian.

lol..he has British ancestors and he takes the piss out of Brits in outsourced as well. What a nob. His stuff is Ok, not great but things like that just make him out to be an idiot. Its ironic...he's the biggest Asian comedian and he has a name like that. Wow...thats about as Asian as you can get...oops, there I go sounding just like him lol.

what do you want him to have pupinder peters, that's what he said... btw wats so bad about the jokes, first time i watched it i fell outta my chair laughing, and i still watch it or at least some of it everyday, and guess wat i still laugh at it! now that's what i call a great comdian buddy...

How does his racial/ethnic origin figure into who he can or cannot take the piss out of? Also, how does making fun of Britons make him a nob?

here's basically what happened: the british came over, exploited india, and held out until 1947. the portuguese did the same too but held out until the 1960s....as a result many hindus were tortured and forced to convert to christianity
