John Stamos

Is John Stamos really gay?

reply

NO. As someone on another thread put it, he is "confidently straight".

<Well...yea...I'm probably NOT who you think I am.>

reply

Why would you think because an actor plays a certain role, that's how they are? So does that mean Ellen DeGeneres is a closet fish? Or that Jim Carrey really has green skin and is a grinch?

Come on, it's called acting for a reason.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

Sheesh. i'm sure Lori Loughlin has kissed more than one gay actor in her career...and that it's okay whether the actor is gay straight OR bi. It's called acting. That said, John Stamos is straight.

OY!

These same people asked the same question when they saw Robin Williams in "Birdcage" and Tom Selleck in "In & Out" and Eric McCormack in Will & Grace. They forget all the other roles that these actors have played and focused only on the gay role.

Notice, they don't ask if Sir Anthony Hopkins is really a cannibalistic serial killer.

They can't seem to get past the notion that a straight actor could (or would) play a gay character — and kiss another man on screen.

I've got some bad news for them: Over half the cast of the Showtime series Queer as Folk were straight. (Starting with the two central actors, Hal Sparks as Michael Novotny and Gale Harold as Brian Kinney, both straight actors playing gay men.)

Don't worry. It will happen again the next time a poplar movie or TV show has a central gay character, and the next time, and the next time, . . . And it will probably be these same people raising the same question. (Almost half the male actors listed on IMDb have a message board thread asking "Is he gay?" whether or not he's ever played a gay character.)

reply

john isn't gay, his boyfriend is.

reply

LOL! That's funny. Cute.

reply

No, he's just an actor who has the confidence to play gay without judging it or making it a cheap caricature

reply

Yes, and that makes him one of the very few to play a gay character without going for the cheap caricature, the swishy effeminate stereotype.

reply

Exactly.... that's the reason why I can't watch Will&Grace because of that annoying sidekick gay character { not Will }, whatever his name was, who even won awards for that series!!...what a pity!!

reply

Correction to my earlier post: Stamos is one of the few American actors I've seen play a gay character instead of a gay caricature.

It is beginning to appear that every English-speaking country except the U.S.A. has actors who can play a gay character without going for the swishy effeminate stereotype.

Such a hot man! He was straight until he made this movie, and then he looked in the mirror and suddenly realized, "Hey, I'm not wasting this on chicks!"
