I agree. They're so generic, boring and predictable.

It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

reply

Agreed. They're very, very predictable. Dancing movies and cheerleading movies always seem to follow the same plot. I hate them.

Having said that however, sometimes I just feel like watching one for the sheer mind-numbing enjoyment of not having to think for an hour or so. These films (especially the Bring It On sequels!) are to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I love dance movies - the more the better I say!

I hated Save the Last Dance 2 though. The acting and dialogue was cringey and I couldn't get over the fact that we were supposed to believe and easily accept a new actress in the role of Sara. I also hated how after dating a black guy she was all of a sudden, this huge expert on 'hip hop'.

I can count the number of dance films i've seen on the fingers of one hand:
- dirty dancing
- flashdance
- a chorus line
- and now make it happen

and if MEW wasn't in make it happen, i don't think i would have been interested.

"You're next!"

let me tell you how it goes

first , an underdog dancer wif/wif out talent is in town
second, gets discovered by fds
third , gets served by the bad guys, trains hard for some competition
four, enters some sort of competition
end, wins

It's stupid if you're saying they shouldn't have ANY more dance movies, at all, but I agree the fact that they're all basically the same thing after awhile gets a bit tiresome.

reply

In that case it's not really about dance movies, it's about the fact that for some reason no-one's bothered to make one with a half decent plot. But there's no reason that there couldn't be a dance movie with an original storyline, if that makes sense.
