I would have thought that if it was they would have called it step up 3, it would be better advertised and the "3" but would have been talked to death by now,
its just another dance film.
just my thoughts.

lol, my little sister has been telling me that it is for ages, so I totally thought it was. (She's quite young must of got it mixed up.)
I was pretty shocked and disappointed when I found out it might not be. :(

the simple answer is no, it's not.
on the finale of So You Think You Can Dance one of the judges was talking about the fact that they will be making a third Step Up and the winner will get a part in the film.
Filming is already completed on Step Up 3, they filmed it in NY this time and not Baltimore. It will also be in 3-d...if you actually do your homework, you would know AND if you did a simple search on imdb..it would take you to the Step Up 3-D page
