Great movie, until........(spoiler s)

....until Mandingo's crazy, angry, violent rant. So, just what the hell was that all about, anyway? When did the main character suddenly become a racist, and what did he do to Mandingo?

I don't think it was racist so much as he was supposed to represent all the main character's fears personified; he pretty much sums it up in his rant.

Myself I thought it was an alright movie until the main character died. That just ruined everything for me.

Mandingo was his greatest relief. Only pain is real.

Mandingo is the manifestation of George's "white man's burden". It couldn't BE more obvious when he actually sits on top of him to deliver much of the speech. Simple, really, and one of the better sequences in the whole film.

Agreed, his speech was over the top and I didn't get the point of it.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
