Anymore cool religious flicks?

For some odd reason the word "religion" causes some people to turn red in the face and start shouting "ATHIEST SMASH!", resulting in a ripple effect of trolism throughout the vicinity. I, however, like engaging religious material.

With that said, I thought Priest had potential even though it wallowed in shades of aimlesslness (it was building up like we were going to get a final showdown in that dark future-noir city but it all ended before then). Still, it was one of the better movies tackling aspects of good vs evil with religious overtones.

Legion was grade-a crap (though it could have been a good popcorn flick if it didn't get itself jammed at that awful little diner), the Prophecy 2, 3 and 4 (I'm afriad to watch 5) were also really crappy. Book of Eli also had potential...felt like they ran out of ideas 20 minutes before the credit roll and it found itself becoming aimless a little like Priest.

So far, my two favorites are Gabriel and the original Prophecy. Gabriel was straight-up badass and the Prophecy was just a cool thriller. Anyone have any other movie suggestions along this line?

Constantine was fun.

Good call. I haven't seen that in a while.

Too bad they didn't make more like it.

Well, it's not vampires, but I loved Stigmata for the relgious aspects.

Now, for a really crappy movie, yet similarly themed to Priest-which was on cable just before Priest- is Dracula II. If anyone has seen it, do you know if they made a sequel, 'cause they set it up for one.

Yeah I seen Stigmata a long time ago.

But you know...I've been looking for the movie Dracula II for quite a while. Awesome suggestion, thanks.

Well there's End of Days, Constantine, Vampires (the one with Woods), Stigmata, The Rite, Seventh Sign, Prophecy (Viggo was awesome in that movie), and Demon Knight. Some of these movies are good and some I haven't seen in a long time, but figured I'd mention them.

Lots of good suggestions here, but I'd like to add a couple:
Dracula 2000, which has that mindblowing revelation at the end.
The Unholy, with Ben Cross as a priest dealing with nasty stuff
The Believers with Martin Sheen and early Jimmy Smits - some eerie scenes here.
And lastly,
To The Devil...A Daughter, kind of a mix of Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby and Playboy.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!

I really like from a scifi point of view all the cloud ten productions..
I know they are very religious but if you view like scifi that 50% of population disappears and the rest become in trouble..its good scifi.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Ten_Pictures#Films
