I am surprised that no one has commented on the similarities between Priest and "The Searchers". The Uncle (father) goes searching for Lucy who is abducted by the Indians (vampires).

I did a while back, but I guess it got buried. That was the first thing that struck me about this movie.

Wow! I'm an old movie buff (esp. John Wayne) and I missed that completely, even though it is incredibly obvious, now that you mention it. Man, do I feel stoopid...

When the picture was released and after the dvd came out there were a lot of threads about this subject.

Basically the film is a remake of The Searchers but as a horror film. They didn't even attempt to change the cultural racism of the original film's message.

So now my people are being equated with soulless and evil vampires as well as being cavemen. Nice.

Even the post-apocalyptic desert scenery is fairly similar to that of the original Searchers.🐭
