if you can get them onto reservations.....

why not just kill'em? is this ever explained?

reply

Yeah I don't know.
In the movie it is hinted than the Church needed the vampires to scare the populace into remaining in power and stuff.
BUT then the Church is shown deniying they are a threat and banishes the Priest because of this.
Doesn't make much sense.

That's the same thing they asked the U.S. about American Indians.

With the difference of course that Native Americans aren't bloodthirsty mindless supernatural creatures who killed billions of humans since the dawn of time de facto endangering the species as a whole?

reply

That's sure not what Americans thought at one point.

Probably should have just gone wholesale and finish the job. I mean, at that point, why stop?

reply

It could have been that without a truce the humans would have spent decades rooting them out and constantly having people killed. Promising them sanctuary if they'd all go to the reservations would be a lot more affective.

I haven't watched the movie in a long while but where is it stated they had any kind of agreement with the mindless beasts??

reply

I just watched this again and this part never makes sense. The humans were obviously technologically advanced, the need for priests seemed pointless, as did leaving the vampires alive. They imply that nuclear weapons were used. If that was the case why not just nuke the hives and be done with it. I guess this is one of those movies were not only to you have to suspend disbelief, but also rational thought.
