Why didn't they..

This may have been bought up before, but why didn't they just put the dog outside?! Especially when she was at home with the kids and was complaining about the dog so much, if they put him outside he wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

Oh, nice socks, man. Nice socks. Nice socks.

Because they raised him as an inside dog. If you are going to be an owner of a dog, you dont put them outside. Our family has always had a dog since I was 4 years old. Never put them outside, as in to sleep and such. Only went outside for walks, and to potty and so forth. Would you want to be in the heat, rain, etc...If you are a dog lover, you treat them like your own child. And they did that. He was an inside dog. Loved him flawed and all.

I am talking about the scene where she is trying to get some sleep while her two young boys slept. There would be no issue with putting him outside for a couple of hours, during the day, even if he was an inside dog. I do have a dog and I love my dog like a child, but there is no problem with putting them outside every once in a while.

I think it was, at least in the movie, because Marley was a very destructive dog. He could have ended up destroying property and Jen would need to leave the house to go and check.

Considering how exhausted she was and how desperate she was for her kids to sleep in peace, not to mention the damage he ended up causing inside when the garbage truck came around, I am pretty sure she would've preferred a destroyed back yard rather than what ended up happening.
