Canadian football in California

Watching this movie again and I had to do a double look. I do believe that Amir drove to San Francisco to see his parents for Thanksgiving. Why would any die-hard American football fan be watching a Canadian fotball game on the American Thanksgiving weekend? It is a game between Hamilton and Winnipeg on TSN? Just doesn't make sense to me. Isn't the T-giving holiday a big football weekend in the USA? Sorry, I don't watch any football, just thought I heard that from fans at work.

MrMatjato, you are correct. Maybe one out of a thousand fans would be watching a CFL game.
Probably the reason that this movie had to show a CFL game rather than a real NFL game was because the movie's production team either could not afford the fee necessary to show NFL ....OR....because they could not (for any amount) secure a release from the NFL. That's my guess anyway.

This actually does happen in a lot of Hollywood movies. Pretty funny stuff.

"...a real NFL game..."

As opposed to a non real NFL game?
