Qantas Flt to the US

Since when does it fly to Nashville ? How come it looked pretty cramped in Business Class ?

reply

That was clearly not a Qantas plane, and it was not their current or prevoius business class seats.

reply

GO BACK AND WATCH THE BLOODY FILM AGAIN...the Qantas plane never goes to Nashville, listen to the connversation when Kenny offeres to fix the toilet on the plane. The staff insiste that to kenny that it will be fixed when they touchdown in LAX.

Qantas don't fly to Nashville - plain and simple. If you want to go there, you need to get a connecting flight, meaning flying an American (domestic) airline. This means there is no way the flight attendent in the movie would end up in Nashville.

reply

ah, WRONG! heres the scoop, the business class section they use is from the older 737's. these still run between domestic capitals like melb-syd. maybe you should shutup and get back to your economy seat ya bogan! they are not going to film during an ACTUAL flight, so they use a plane on the ground. dumbass! dont talk about things you know nothing about!

reply

WRONG Again ..

The plane used is a 767 with 2-2-2 Bus Class seat row configuration, 737's are much smaller with 2-2 Business class and no divides in cabin. It probably is a Qantas plane inside just perhaps one of their older ones. It's a 767 on the exterior shots as well.

But your right, altough 767's have been used on International flights to Asia (I flew to Hong Kong in one), they definately do *not* fly them to the U.S.A. - and if they did it would have to go via Hawaii impossible direct to LAX. Melbourne to L.A. is flown solely with 747-400ER's - specially modified 747's with extra fuel tanks so it can make the trip non-stop .. and they leave daily late-morning not at night. Qantas certaintly dont fly to Nashville so dunno what the hostie was doin there either ..

And as for Kenny scorin with her .. h'yeaaah !! God bless him I must be in the wrong job ..

Anyways enough nitpicking back to this great film !!

Speaking of Qantas, i had a chance to see this wonderful film on my Qantas flight from Brisbane to Los Angeles on their inflight entertainment.

reply

I watched it twice from Sydney to San Fran.

"Hey... this is a private residence, man."

reply

Actually it was a decomissioned Ansett airliner sitting in a hangar with black curtains covering the windows to make it look like nighttime.

reply

Why would such a plane still be sitting in a hanger when it would be worth money? All of their assets would have been sold long ago.

reply

Actually QANTAS 767s do (or used to anyway) fly to LAX.The main thing that everyone seems to be forgetting is that it's just a MOVIE!!!

reply

Guys, you are overlooking the most obvious giveaway that it is not business class - the lack of personal video screens. Since 2002, all Qantas international non-stop flights to the US have had personal video screens in *all* classes, even economy. But in business class, they've had them even longer.

reply

i would quite like to know how you all know this, is this some kind of pilots only thread?

reply

No it isn't... anyone who has flown Qantas to the US the past few years knows this.

reply

It is clearly a Boeing 767-338, and the outside shots are of a 767 leased from British Airways, in Qantas colours. These aircrafts are only operated on domestic routes and never internationally. Only 747s go to the USA. Also, when the captain makes his address he notes that it is morning, when outside it is dark. For this to be true, it must be before dawn. There are no flights to USA at this time of day due to the flight time and time difference would result in an arrival in LA around 2am.

It is a movie and it isn't very accurate, but it doesn't matter, it's based around cleaning toilets and port-a-loos, not attention to aircraft detail.

reply

What a ridiculous post.

It flew to Nashville (or not) because the plot required it to.

It looked cramped in Business Class because it is a low budget independent film.

reply

Exactly! I'm with you! Again we're not talking about a big budget hollywood film here, we're talking about a low budget Australian movie. Authenticity about what kind of planes from what kind of airline in what timeframe would definately have to take a back seat, the primary concern would be finding an affordable plane to film on :)

reply

On to bigger conspiracies: I've heard a rumour from a good source that this so called "Kenny" bloke isn't even a plumber! Apparently he's an actor. So much for plot credibility!
