The dog must die? explain it!

I was thinking it's a decent film until they have to kill the big dog for biting people once, that's pissed me off,it's so unfair.

Did you finish watching the movie? The dog was never killed.

In love with the magical, fantasy worlds

I know, but who made the law that they must kill the dog?

reply

In most states if a dog attacks a human, by law they have to be put down.

Plus they didn't know why the dog attacked him. For all they knew the dog could have had rabies.

They really don't care why unless they know for certain that the dog's owner is in mortal peril which is difficult to prove at best. They just go by the false assumption that once a dog bites a human that it proves that the dog has emotional problems that cannot be corrected. This is absurd. It may be difficult to rehabilitate a dog, but it's far from impossible. It's just that most dog owners don't know how to accomplish it, are unable to find a suitable trainer who can, and/or can't afford it when they do find one.

Even worse is that some dog owners just don't care enough to exert the effort or part with the funds. They think of dogs (like most other pets) as expendable. When one breaks just replace it with a newer model. In cases like this the problem with the dog is more than likely caused by the owner. Many of these owners are as deserving of being put down as the abused pets that they owned.

Now don't get me wrong here. I'm no bleeding heart liberal PETA fanatic (my defination of PETA is People for the Eating of Tasty Animals). I just feel that they deserve a reasonable amount of care and respect.
