Too creepy for kids!

This scared the 11-year-old out of me! Yeah, it's a cartoon, and probably the most faithful adaptation of the book, but, Jesus! This is seriously horror for kids! There's plenty of murder, violence, death, and Mr. Hyde is so friggin' scary! Not so much for adults, but for young kids...seriously!

Great cartoon though. Definitely a classic.

Huh, disturbingly enough I was about ten or eleven when I first saw this cartoon and to be honest it never actually scared me. I just thought it was cool.

But now that I'm older, I actually appreciate it MORE than I used to. This was an incredibly ballsy movie!

I mean this was a kids film supposedly made for TV in the mid 80s! Hell, during that time, we couldn't even have GUNS in kids programming! How the network could ever let THIS slip through the radar is a complete mystery!

But yet on the other hand, I applaud the makers of this cartoon for actually taking chances and deciding to a rather faithful adaptation without pandering to the little kids...well not pandering too much anyway.

Well...ok the scenes with the nanny and kids are a bit too kiddie kiddie for me to say it doesn't to pander to kids a whole lot but everything else about it actually is pretty creepy for little kids.

I bought this for my son and we loved it. He was about ten or so. We had already read the book and it is remarkable that with all the money that movies have thrown at the story the most faithful adaptation is this cheap little cartoon. And it's really good. The voice work is great. The animation may not be top notch but it's not terrible either.
