Rain Man Minus an actual plot

Do not get me wrong, I was impressed with the acting, the visuals, and the aesthetic tone of the film. For lack of a better, more sophisticated term, I must reference "you can polish a turd, but its still a turd". There was not a compelling meat and potatoes story! It's really a shame too, because like I said before, the filmmakers did an excellent job here. It really felt like rain man to me in certain ways. Do I really need to explain that? Rain man on the other hand, had a storyline.
