Michael Douglas was the best part of this film.....

I did enjoy this film. Michael Douglas as Uncle Wayne made the film. The scene in the bathroom where he first appears to Conner - just funny. But the flashback scene to Conner as a kid with Wayne at the bar was hilarious. When he showed the kid how to pick up a girl. Classic stuff.

I agree. For me, his performance was one of the things that kept me from pressing the "Stop" button mid-way through this otherwise unbelievably bad film. I mean, I know it was probably meant as a sort of parody (presumably of 'A Christmas Carol'), but c'mon! Jennifer Gardner's performance was decent, as was the brothers', but IMO, everyone else overacted and the whole thing was just so unbelievably cheesy. I've seen SNL skits that were more believable than this.

I'm just glad I got to rent this for free for renewing my Blockbuster membership. Otherwise, it would've been $5 as well as 90 some minutes of my life I'd never get back! LOL.

I enjoyed this film and certainly liked McConnaughey's performance. The scene when his brother defends him was also particularly touching.

I also really liked Douglas who had some classic lines. It was however a shame that they had to make him look so silly at the end when he was hitting on the three ghosts.

It was almost as if the makers realised that he'd come across quite well and had to ridicule him at the end. So much so that his approach to the ghosts wasn't in keeping with the very rules and guidance that he'd given Connor earlier in the film.

Best part of the movie for sure

It's pretty funny stuff. He's a real sleazeball of a character in this film.

Totally agree, OP.

Uncle Wayne was a superstar. That bar scene has to be one of the greatest scenes of pick up ever, in cinema. What he says, and what he does... really shows the reality of the pickup game, and dealing with women. It was perfect.

I wish I had a mentor like Uncle Wayne when I was a teenager... would have saved me from some heartache and poor mistakes.
