Fred Thompson as President U.S. Grant

Is that prophetic or what?

reply

How so?

reply

Well, namely due to the fact that Fred Thompson (former Republican Senator from Tennessee) is one of the leading candidates for President in 2008.

reply

And if he were elected, he would probably be in the same category as Grant. That is, one of the worst Presidents in U.S. history.

Thankfuly, Thompson has a snowball's chance of winning the Presidency.

reply

He'd have a hard time being worse than the present President!

reply

Care to elaborate on why he wouldn't have a snowball's chance? Currently, as an unannounced candidate, he is leading GOP polls in many states, running second to Rudy Giuliani in others.

I think it would be a VERY close race between Hillary Clinton and Fred Thompson . . . with my money being on Fred.

You talking about that actor/senator republican guy whose family values compelled him to marry his grandaughter?
snork---snork---snork---sound of coffee blowing out of BOTH nostrils! :D

reply

Nothing wrong with marrying someone younger than him. Certainly better than that cheating hypocrite Giuliani.

reply

Stoshie

You must be an anti-American, blame America first, socialist peacenik. Shame on you.

reply

What the hell is any of this to do with a movie ?. I logged on to read reviews to see if the movie was worth watching, not who is going to be next president of the USA, anyway, who cares?. It will be some politition who promises the world and still do what the oil barons and rifle club tell him/her

I am No One,No One is Perfect,Therefore I am Perfect.

cjump, how are Stoshie's comments anti-American? You do realize the extreme faults of Industrial-era Presidents, correct? Grant wasn't exactly a saint, and Thompson's has proven his worth in Watergate. Certainly he is not Presidential material, however neither are any of the candidates currently leading the polls.

reply

I don't understand why they cast Thompson, with his thick Tennessee drawl, to play Grant, who was an Ohio native.
