People who annoy you in 'Come Dine with Me'

My wife loves this show so I see my fair share and overall it is quite entertaining. However the following types of contestants do my head in:-

1. The people who moan because they hate a random meat or vegetable etc.

I mean the host knows if he/she has to cater for vegetarians or vegans and so forth but people who have no dietary requirements then come out with "I hate lamb" or "I hate mushrooms". They should either not be on the show or shut up as it is not the host's fault they are fussy eaters.

2. People who are on a TV show about cooking to impress and cook something they have not cooked before. I would be cooking the dishes during the month before hand so I could perfect - or is that that too much common sense?

3. The "idiots". You know the ones who want to win so much that hey moan about everything and mark people 4/10 just so they can win. Not very sportsman like at all.

Better to regret something you did, than something you didn't do!

I can't stand the people that waste time in saying "I don't like this", "I'm allergic to that", "I would never go near it in my life" about everything that is put in front of them. Those people are always the type that seem desperate to be on tv, and should be thrown out of the house, carted off to the nearest golden arches and left to choke on a Ronald McDonald plush

I understand your point and feel that I'm an adventurous diner, but there are some things I will NOT eat. Not because I'm allergic or I've tried them before, but because the very thought of the preparation makes me vomit.

Anything that involves wet/soaked bread - forget it! French toast, bread pudding, whatever. I'm not touching it.

I HATE cooked onions. They really creep me out. If I can't see them, I'm okay. But if there are chunks/slivers of onions, I'm not touching it. I always request my meals be made without onions at restaurants.

French Onion soup? ugh!

Oh Christ, the picky eaters. They do my head in too. I mean, why would they take part in a contest where they know they'll most likely be served something they're not used to?

What I hate the most about some contestants: "Oh, the food was good and the host was fabulous, but I'm going to give the evening this lousy score because there wasn't enough booze." What is this? It's a dinner party, not a night down the pub. Even most of the alcoholics I've known occasionally managed to keep their addiction in check for one evening. I just saw an episode where a Hindu woman served no meat or alcohol in her house and if the moaning was any indication, the guests were already in withdrawals despite the previous night's meatful boozefest.

I agree with what you have said especially when they see the menu and go on and on about “that doesn’t take much effort eg soup” and then when it’s their turn they produce a salad, that’s less of an effort than soup!

I remember one diner commenting on a menu saying “oh they are making homemade ice cream, well that’s sooo simple” and they roll their eyes BUT when it’s their night they make flavoured frozen ice, (oh sorry sorbet).

Some love to dish out awful remarks and moan all the way through the week but when they get the same treatment back “it’s called bullying and they start crying, PLEASE!!!!!”. Pardon the pun “if you can’t stand the heat: get out the kitchen”.

people, who say bad things about others on camera, but not around the other contestants. i.e. backbiting

there is like one person in the group that ruins it for other people and likes to be negative towards them.

reply

Oh yeah I see this nearly all the time!

reply

they do it though just so to make it more interesting to watch. although, depending on the people who take part, this is not always a good thing.

When they are at one contestants home, one of the guests starts badmouthing the host when she/he's not there - finding any small little negative thing to say to turn the other guests against the host, and so ''cleverly'' tries to make them feel the same. Usually not very directly, just like whispering ''I feel like she/he's a little so and so...'', as it has anything to do with the meals they are served... understand me? That's ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I just finished watching that guys week, what a snob! Who did he think he was, did he think he was impressing anyone? What was with his obsession with "low end supermarkets"?? Dude, Lidl sells the exact same same stuff you can get at Morrisons, its just half the price. And that smug little grin he gave every time said pretty much anything made me want to punch him in the face. Never was there a more deserving loser.

Yeah, the food snobs bug me. They clearly know nothing about food, or else they wouldn't feel the need to constantly boast about it. I know foodies, and they're not in the least bit boastful or arrogant, because they don't need to be. They know what they're talking about. And half the comments these snobs come out with, you just want to say to them "don't you know how this show works yet? Don't you know the narrator is gonna tear you to shreds if you act like that??"

But the number one thing that gets me about the snobs is whenever they justify their inevitable failure of a night by saying something along the lines of "well, it was too good for them/ they didn't understand my cooking, so of course they didn't appreciate it!" Mate, good food speaks for itself. If you can't cook, you can't cook. Simple as that.

Exactly. Boo.

1) The rude ones - the worst was the hairdresser who I think was Italian (could be wrong) and told all the ladies that their hair looked bad and was generally not a nice individual. I think he had viewer complaints as well, unsurprisingly.

2) The ones who hate sweet food - particularly a woman who ended up hiding a dessert in her bag. Why would you enter a competition involving eating a few desserts and judging them if you hate desserts? Attention seeking methinks.

3) The disagreeable ones - one example is a girl who claimed to always be right, she was such an unpleasant person to watch, I felt sorry for the people having to spend time with her. And there was the woman with all the tattoos who was pretty argumentative and picked on everything as well. She seemed to know before even sitting down that she'd hate the meals. Ooh and does anyone remember that one who ended up eating dessert on her own in the next room because noone liked her? Can't remember exactly why, but seem to recall her just being generally argumentative?

4) I don't hate so much when people cook something that they've never cooked before, that's up to them and they're the one missing out if it goes wrong. Though I can't help thinking that they do this so that if the dish turns out amazing they look even more skilled. Perhaps they even fib about never cooking it before, I wouldn't be surprised.
