CGI 3 types of movies

I wish we could get some original story lines with CGI movies. You bassically have 3 types:

1 - Insect movies = Bug's Life, Ants, Ant Bully, Bee Movie etc

2 - Animal Movies = Ratatoullie, Barnyard, Chicken Little, Open Season etc

3 - Fish Movies = Shark's Tale, Finding Nemo, The Reef etc

Every once in a while Disney/Pixar or some other company will actually get somewhat original with movies like Toy Story, Monsters INC, Monster House, etc but for the most part it's Fish/Animals or Insects and the story lines are usually the same.

Hollywood is truely running out of ideas. Especially with all the remakes, prequels and tv-movie cross-overs. Blah.

I think Shrek trilogy was original.

reply

No, shrek was actually based on a book.

reply

they all could fall under the title "animal movies"

free jimmy ws a pretty good on though definatel not fo children. there was final fantasy, so i guess that a com bination of video game/manga cgi is another category. and beowulf/300/what was that xmas movie with tom hankms one type

reply

Thats a really good point....there are quite a few insect/animal/fish movies. But they're not the only ones. There's Cars. Theres that new one WALL-E about a trash-robot or something...

But there is also Toy Story and Shrek.

And yes, all the movies types you mentioned could all be put under animal/creature.

The Incredibles is credited as the first (and so far only) Pixar film with an all-human cast of characters.

Like what? Pitch one Mr. Original.

A heartfelt drama about the hardships of a widowed British miner in the 1840s, and his disaffected son.

reply

Im not sure that would make a good CGI movie, more like a decent live action movie.

CGI characters work well as animals because you can emote animals better in CGI than you ever could on camera, thats why most CG characters are animals. If you make a film with humans you can either hand animate it or film it, because more often than not the humans will end up looking silly.

He was joking. but showed my point. Only certain types of storylines and characters work as CGI movies.

How about Wreck-It Ralph? That was pretty orginal. & A Monster in Paris, Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie, Coraline, Paranorman

& now u got the talking modes of transportation category: Cars, Cars 2, & Planes

reply

i gotta say that wreck it ralph was original, but the other ones you listed seem to all go together in some kind of halloween/gothic/horror type comedies lol.
