finding nemo and shark tale combined

y would any1 want 2 c this?
finding nemo was the best fish film eva, shark tale was dreamworks attempt and that was ok, but this film is just mocking the work of both these films!
not 2 mention the fact it basically taking the story from shark tale, but changing everything around a little bit.

who agrees with me?

agreed, plus its awful looking, really cheap crappy made for tv digital animation, its an insult that this film could even be compared to the lush beautiful, masterpiece that is Finding Nemo

Exactly breo

Maggots maggots Michael your eating maggots how do they taste?

reply

To be honest, although it does look terrible ( i agree :D ) small companies have to start somewhere and people should give them a chance - even though the story line is stolen :P

reply

the reason small companies should get anywhere is with original ideas, and I've seen small companies make beautifully detailed cgi animation because they put time and heart into it. this is made by a bunch of chancers that know that:
1. kids loves animated fish films
2. cgi technology has come on leaps and bounds since toy story, its not that hard to animate a 3-d talking character, hence the extreme speed these films have been knocked out at in the past 2 years, its when it gets into texture and detail and movement thats when it becomes an art, it's clear that these film-makers have skimmed over this.

this is a cheeky cheap little cash cow made by people who think kids dont care about the finer detail's of these type of films

Why would anybody that doesn't know English post here? Wait, let me rephrase this so you can understand:

wi wood any1 that don't no eng post here?

reply

It was terrible! The only thing this had that Nemo didn't was a well-known voice acting cast. Freddie Prince Jr, Andy Dick, ect. They had some good ones in Nemo, sure. But Not many that the American public would know much about like Barry Humpfriez (sp?) and Rove McMannus.

Still, aside from that, basicly everything else was lower than poop. Anyone who sees it after reading these should bring a bullet with them, just in case.

Nemo had Albert Brooks- the simpsons best guest voice, Ellen Degeneres the most famous lesbian in the world and Oscar presenter, Willen Dafoe the Green Goblin! and Brad Garret from Everybody Loves Raymond. I think Nemo wins for famous voices

reply

True. Hehe, My bad... But I more focusing on how Shark Bait had a few more recognizable Hollywood names. I honestly never heard of Ellen DeGeneres before Nemo ! LOL

Divine have you been living at the bottom of the ocean since the 80's? You never heard of "Ellen"? My word! Anyways, Is this film really that bad? I was gonna take my kids to see it but you lot have put me off it.

Brizo, I wasn't even born until the 90's! I remember seeing Shark Tale in 7th grade at school...
After Nemo, I learnt about her a little bit more about her, however. And since, have seen a few episodes of her show. What I was saying is that Shark Tale had a few more highly recognized names in moreso 'modern' society. Jack Black, Will Smith, Renne Zellweger (sp?), Martin Scorsese (sp?!?) etc., I would have picked them out from a crowd sooner than I did with Ellen.
Again, this doesn't apply to everyone. It's just how I saw it.

Bad????? Bad????????????????? This is the WORST kids film ever. In fact, its the WORST film ever and should be burned before the writers guild promote it to dvd and blue ray. Aside from a few recognisable names on the production team, this movie totally sinks and never regains its 'Float' If only for the fact the makers dared to rip off 'Finding Nemo' this deserves to be lost under the murky depths forever!!!!

reply

Hmm...well, I've never seen Shark Tale, so I don't know if this movie rips-off that one, but I have seen FInding Nemo. Personally, I don't see much ripping-off of that movie in The Reef (that's the title it had when I saw it in Ireland, and that's what I'm going to call it).

Let's see...why do we think this is a stinky movie...

*It has fish in it.*

Oh, horrors of horrors! It's another fish movie! Un-fishin' believeable! Well, now we have three. You should be grateful!

*It rips-off Finding Nemo's plot.*

On one hand, fish leaves home to find his son who was kidnapped. On the other hand, fish is orphaned and meets a pretty girl and has to defeat the tiger shark that torments them all. Yeah. That's totally ripping off. I will, however, admit that the West Indies Current was a total rip-off of the EAC...but that's about it.

*The animation looks like crap.*

So? Does all animation have to be gloriously realistic to make a movie enjoyable? Personally, I don't think very many people care if it looks real or not. It's the animator's personal style.

Something I'd like to point out: at least the hero actually wants to do good for fishkind, and at least the heroine is not a really mean slut.

I'M A RUMOR WEED!!!

Errrm that isnt totally correct, depending on the production, sketches are drawn up of the characters, along with how the environment will look like, there might be different versions in either just different poses, with items, or totally different designs of that character.

When a design is selected, then the facial features of the person that would be doing the voice get added, also the facial features of that person whilst doing the lines, because some productions film that for reference purposes.

Remember I said depending on the production.

Even though it does seem like a ripoff of Shark Tale, I'm probably gonna rent it soon because Rob Schneider's in it.

"Is the hot tea hot or cold?"
"Is the tea iced tea?"
"No, it's HOT tea!"
"Then I have no idea!"

At first I thought this was a Shark Tale sequel. In Norway Shark Tale is called "Stor Ståhai" and this one is called "Mer ståhai" (don't know how to translate "ståhai" but the titles means "Big ståhai" and "More ståhai"). Weird!

reply

OK, I'm not gonna rip it apart because it dares to have fish in it, I like fish movies. Or that the animation's bad, because it's a small company and they probably tried. And I don't see it as being a Shark Tale or Finding Nemo rip off because this was more The O.C. meets Jackie Chan in the sea.... That's why it's awful.
The plot was cringy at best and, at the worst points, made me try to choke to death on my popcorn. Characters were underdeveloped, jokes fell flat, and, is it just me, or was anyone else annoyed at how a fish much smaller that a tiger shark is gonna keep up with porpoises for so long? Seriously! Who thought that up? Is he on steroids? And why were the porpoises so ridiculously tiny? Just some fine touches missing and a lack of research right there.
Random scenes and conversations with characters kept popping up that served only to buy time, all the kids in the cinema with me seemed to hate it and get bored. *SPOILER* Pi's training sessions with Nerissa had no purpose as, from then on, we all knew exactly what was going to happen in 10 minutes with Troy and had to watch the whole thing over again. And a kid cried because he died..meanly.
You're better off watching Laguna Beach instead of the main Pi/Cordelia storyline. This movie is BAD!!!

I just saw an ad for this and this thread's title was my EXACT thought.

I gave the movie a chance, and it was good enough to enjoy at least once...but nowhere near the outstanding quality of Finding Nemo, or even of Shark Tale, really. I love that film, too (though again, not nearly as much as FN.) This one I simply liked.

reply

i disagree. i thought the story was original and funny as well.

reply

I'd have been fine with it not being very original if it wasn't just so terrible. It is pretty rare for me to give a real film a 1/10 but this one got it, no redeeming quality and just all around painful to watch.

My daughter liked it so I guess that is good.

reply

People chill I actually liked it.
