oh yeah my question....is there anyaway i can get a transcript for this movie?

They dont speak very fast, Is just that you are not still totally familiar with spanish. Once you undestand everything very well, you'll realize that they talk at normal speed. Everytime you hear somebody speak in a language you dont understand it sounds very fast, but is not true.
shareI need to become familiar with Puerto Rican/Caribbean Spanish. Does anyone know which Spanish they use in this movie? It's hard to find movies or TV shows where they speak Puerto Rican/Caribbean Spanish like they speak in the streets.
shareOK, I am going to tell you the BEST way to learn Spanish. NO BOOKS, NO CD'S!!! You have to have heavy interaction with "SPANISH SPEAKING" People. I do not know where you live...But in the US, the best areas would be on the east coast...(NY, NJ, Boston, Philadelphia, Orlando or Miami...NY and Miami are the best). The reason being, there is a large population of people from Puerto Rico, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela and Panama living in the eastern part of the US. And they are a VERY SOCIAL AND FRENDLY group of people. Very festive and love to dance. On the west coast (California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas) ITS MEXICAN!!! I am from East Coast (Cleveland and Lived in NY). And I moved to Vegas in 2000. So I have been here for alost 9 years...And I do not have one...I repeat not ONE mexican friend. I never get a chance to practice my Spanish here...Only when I visit family and friends in NY, Puerto Rico and The Dominican Republic do I use Spanish.
So WARNING!!! If your in the West Coast...Good Luck, Mexicans are not a very social or friendly group of people...In NY or Miami you'll learn Fluent Spanish in 6 months.
And have plenty of friends and gain about 50 pounds...THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm from NYC, so I have plenty of interaction with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. I agree that the best way for most people to learn the language is to interact with native speakers and be immersed in the environment. That's how we learned to speak as children. But I still feel that it's important to build a foundation in the language by learning grammar through books and other learning material. I'll work on that some more until I feel comfortable enough to approach Spanish speakers and try to have a conversation.
We have Mexicans here in NY and you're right that they usually keep to themselves. I guess it's because they haven't assimilated into the environment like some of the other Latinos that have been here for many generations. Mexicans are still relatively new here but they're growing fast. I'm surprised to hear that they are the same out West. The younger Mexican-Americans are probably more outgoing since many of them were raised here.
