why is this film rated so low? 5.8???????? i would expect it to be great. i mean it has the dalia lama in it. hes awsome

I thought this movie was great! I really enjoyed seeing the rare footage, especially of the dalai lama in his early years. Well done!
The secret footage shot in Tibet was great too. I can't believe all the cameras they have there!! share

I trust the filmmaker, but I wish we could have known more about some of that footage, such as the one of the Chinese jail that resembled a WW2 concentration camp.
I loved this movie and the questions and answers as well as the historical background, which I hadn't expected to get. A great quote from the Dalai lama, as he's laughing at China's Communist Party focus on power: "Peace and stability are of course important, but under rule of terror is not good."

Either that or his trite little Greeting Card Slogans don't matter much to people who know what Tibet was actually like under the oppressive Lama ruling class.
