Mr. Foil needs to have a little talk with Mrs. Foil

Don't get me wrong--I love this show. I couldn't wait for it to come out. I was just thinking maybe they should have called her MISS Foil. Because having her character as a married woman makes her relationship with two bachelor brothers come across as somewhat inappropriate. I mean she spends A LOT of time with them. (e.g. Late night camping, the beach) I mean though they are lovably puerile, it still seems a little strange that someone of her maturity level is hanging out with them. And yeah, I know she can be just as silly and playful, and I do like her, but it's still odd and just a tad bit weird to me. Like when Mr.Foil's away Mrs. Foil will play.
"Hello, boys."
"Hello, Mrs. Foil."
[In her head] You naughty, naughty boys.

Give me a break...

I can't even begin to imagine which conservative, witch-hunting fallacies you embrace in other situations.

reply

Give YOU a break? Try giving ME a break. I love the show. Period. And I'm entitled to have some fun with it. It's what I've observed and I find it mildly amusing and weird. And I won't be the first adult to watch a kid show and pick up on it and wonder "what's up with that?"

You can go to the LAZY TOWN message board and see that adult FANS of the show still poke fun at the show. Like "Why are Sportacus'pants so tight", "Why is Stephanie's skirt so short" and "What's really going on between them"? And I think the show's innocent but it can look inappropriate which is funny cause their intentions are really chaste. LOL

TUDS is fun, clever and imaginitive and the shows really well thought out so I'm sure they had a reason for calling her Mrs. Maybe it's an Australian thing. And who's witch-hunting? If anything I am trying to put a scarlet "A" on Mrs. Foil.

And since David and Shane encourage kids to use their imagination and they act like big kids themselves, I'm gonna jump right into it 'cause I'm a big kid at heart. I see Mrs. Foil divorcing Mr. Foil and getting married to Shane, with David as the best man, the pet fly carrying the ring and their minister would be Puppet! And since Halloween's coming around witches are invited too! Ha!

Thanks for posting! Come again!

Who's taking things too seriously, again?

We discussed Mrs. Foil on the Umbilical Brothers board. Where is Mr. Foil, why is he gone all the time, why does Mrs. Foil pop up everwhere. We finally decided that there is no Mr. Foil and that "Mrs. Foil" is a secret agent who is constantly going undercover on assignment. The whole Mrs. Foil persona is just her "friendly neighbor" cover-up identity. See, there's no end to how much you can over think this stuff.

reply

Well now that's using your imagination! Shane and David would be so proud!

...your just like MANDY!!!

You're not the only one wondering about Sportacus and his too-tight pants. Today you could see the outline of his boxer briefs.
Yes, Stephanies' skirt is too short, and you've got to wonder what's up with them, they ARE a little close.
Robbie Rotten and his homosexual tendencies...like the dress wearing and his little boy outfits? And, what's up with Stingy? He's a little tooooo girly sometimes himself...
My son loves these shows, and I do admit I watch them, and see their innocence, but you DO have to wonder...
Like why is Maisy a girl mouse, but dresses like a boy?
And my husband never took baths with HIS friends like Oobi and Keiko do.
And where for the love of God are Max and Ruby's parents?

reply

OMG I've wondered the same things too. Why does the alligator on Maisy sound like a mentally challenged kid?? And who made Ruby the boss of everything?? Maybe her parents were killed for lucky rabbit feet....who knows??

reply

It's like really early in the morning (I went in early and my baby woke me up and I can't fall back asleep yet and you guys/girls have me cracking up! I wondered about Maisy too a little. She wears dresses on occasion--like the red dress for the song about red dress, red socks, red shoes, red bird all day long. But her overall look makes her look like a boy mouse. But I guess it's just all around good attire for kids of any gender who run and play. And her alligator friend's voice creeps me out! No offense to the mentally challenged if that's what inspired them. Plus he's tall so it makes him even creepier.

And I've been wondering about Max and Ruby's parents. I mean, they show the grandmother and a picture of the grandfather in an episode, and they show other adults but Ruby seems like the guardian for Max and she's not old enough to be. I guess they have an arrangement where they can live there by themselves provided their grandmother checks up on them once in a while. And I did think about Oobi and Kako's bubble bath scene like once. I didn't really know that best friends took baths together. I know it more to be young siblings like sister with sister, brother with brother (not sure about brother and sister. ?) I mean how old are Oobi and Kako? I thought their age would be too old for taking baths together. LOL.

reply

Did you know that The Umbilical Brothers did the voices for Maisy?????

reply

"oobi, keiko, stupid!"

Yes, I did know that. But it's odd, because I can't figure out where Maisy is from country-wise. There are some American names in the end credits, but if you watch the first half the names are all like...
"Kysjunovik Mukisvicjyk"

Charlie the Alligator...wow.
"Huuuumuuuuuhhhh"

Go to youtube and search for "You Are a Pirate RAUNCHY." It's the funniest thing you'll ever see.

And you know, Dora would be a lot less dependent on the map if she'd actually look where she's going once in a while instead of mindlessly singing and asking if we see anything. Oh, and I'm sure that Boots' birthday cake was in greeeeaaaat shape after you stuck it in your backpack. And P.S., Benny the Bull sounds like he reaaaallly needs to quit a bunch of smoking.

I always picture Mrs. Foil as a gay divorcee. Just my two cents. Maybe Mr. Foil is a no-nonsense accountant type and she's glad to be rid of him.

reply

I just wonder about Tico from Dora. I mean Dora is 5 and Tico is old enough to drive. Why is a 16 year old hanging out with a five year old?

reply

i think it would be more inappropriate to have her be a single gal always hanging out with two bachelor brothers...?

reply

Bah! Even I find it weird that anyone would try to find eccentricities in The Upside Down show.

Rather silly to try and find "evil" in something good...

Then again, there is always that "wonder why" sort of part in my mind.

Like...
If Robbie Rotten is the villain, why don't they just throw him out of town?

Also, yes, the "Birthday Fairy" costume in LazyTown was a bit "girly"

Like the camping episode of LazyTown.

I find it awfully odd that Stefanies' uncle would allow her to go on a "camping trip" with a 40-something year old man. With one tent, and did you see how close and giddy they were with each other when they were setting up?

As far as Tico driving, I've also got to wonder about Stingy from LazyTown. Another 16+(?) year old hanging out with young children?

...you're just like MANDY!!!

reply

Stingy is the same age as the other kids, his car is a pedal car. Or more likely one of those electric cars they have for kids, since he obviously has the money to afford one of those things.

reply

I think Mrs. Foil likes those "Action Fingers" a little bit too much. For one example, watch the "Airport" episode. Or maybe it's just me!

reply

I'm glad i'm not the only one who giggled upon first meeting "Knuckles and Pointy"...

Did someone say Tico? :D No one gets the goods like Tico does. What you want, Tico's got. Just don't ask where it came from.
