Perspective

Good movie but the background text at the beginning is an interesting example of how perspective can radically alter the characterization of an action or position.

From 1917-1948 (31 years) the area was occupied by the Brits. [British Mandate part of the Sykes-Picot Agreement 1916]. Because of this, the text goes on, the "underground defense forces" resorted to armed resistance.

Not mentioned is Israel's preemptive attack on Egypt 5 June 1967. At the end of this undeclared Six Day War, Israel occupied sovereign territory in three nations (4 if Shebaa Farms is Lebanon). 45 years later; Gaza is pretty much blockaded, the Golan and West Bank remain occupied with an Israeli population of about 600,000.

Interestingly; those who oppose Israel's continued heavy hand and occupation are now called "terrorists", not "underground defense forces" as those opposed to the British were characterized.

Perspective, ain't it grand!
