The Red Ribbon?

About an hour into the movie the dance teacher removes Erika's red ribbon from her hair and starts dancing with Erika with a blue ribbon. Why did he take out the red ribbon, and where did he "magically" get a blue ribbon?

reply

I noticed that too when i watched the movie last night, and I thought I mised something because I only started watching after the first 30 minutes.

Another time it was a blue ribbon was when Erika's dance teacher was in her room watching her sleeping and the camera flashed to the ribbon, and it was blue.

After watching the entire movie, I realized the blue ribbon was the teacher's dead wife's ribbon, and he gave it to erika to wear. However, I still didn't know where he put the red ribbon when he took it off her the first time, and why she didn't ask for it back.

He took the red ribbon that I think her dad gave her or something like that and gave her the blue one his wife had. He told her she could keep it and since, at the time, she trusted him fully and probably did have a bit of a crush on him she kept the blue willingly and forgot about the red.

The blue ribbon belonged to his dead wife, the red ribbon her dad gave her, when he took the red ribbon from her hair i'm pretty sure he gave it to her because at the end of the movie when we see her audition she has the red ribbon in her hair again, did anyone else notice the resembalance between his dead wife and Erika, I think thats why he was so obessesed with Erika because she was so much like his dead wife.

When he took the red ribbon from her, she didn't ask for it back as she left with her boyfriend. But as she was waiting for the audition, her mom came in and gave her the red ribbon, hmm.. where did she get that from? Then the stalker guy brought her the blue one.

Yeah, this chick was an awful actress and a worse dancer! I pretty much finished watching it to laugh at her horrible, inappropriate facial expressions.

I didn't really see how the ribbons were all that relevant. So, her dad gave her the red one and the blue one belonged to his wife...well, it's not like ribbon is valuable or anything. It's actually very cheap, and easily available at any craft store. It seemed strange that they acted like it was something special and significant when it's only ribbon.

i think ribbons should only be given out to the victors.
