I first saw series 2 and really enjoyed it, Recently watched series 1 and then got to see the whole of s2 again and although that would probably be about all I'd watch of those two series it was very enjoyable, and for a few days there despite the whineing I believed Jack to be cool as feck!
I'm very disappointed with series 3 though. I dont find any of the recruits to be likeable or interesting to watch. Jack being now in control and pretty fearless of anything, aswell as the group leader is just not working for me.
The whole series has just been such a downer compared to to the kind of buzz the first 2 series gave me.
The three girls are so dull and uninteresting. Their little cat-fights are just boring. The lad from Barnsley is such a drip, and just shouldn't be there. He literally has no enthusiasm for any of it and looks as though he will cry at any second. The other bloke Kai is a bit better although doesn't have much personality, and is moaning at everything aswell.
All in all, I loved the first two series, I got a buzz and was inspired by it. Jack's moaning was actually great for me because he was seriously battling some demons at times and was having to deal with serious stuff he never had before, plus Mike and Bean were a good foil for Jack, and all in all it gave me a kind of euphoria to see many of the challenges.
The main thing was watching Jack come of age. Each episode you could see his wasteline shrink and his depth of personality grow. Watching one person with real character and personality develop and go through some real ordeals is far more interesting than watch 5 people with no character whinge and moan about everything that is rarely actually a big deal.
Most of them signed up and then couldn't do a bunjee! Whats the point of that? I honestly cant see these people developing. Ep1 Kai took forever to jump a bunjee, because he was scared and after doing it was amazed how easy it actually was, and then the final episode he takes forever doing the skydive. Yeah you've come along way son, now just go home please!
Series 3 probably appeals to those who like most reality TV with bland nobody's talking alot but saying nothing, and the whole thing leaves me cold, and non-plussed.
Shame, I think it's run it's course now. Good show for a while, a great idea and hats off to Jack who I now have alot of time for, but no more of this insipid waste of time that is series 3. It would be better to leave it at theat than flog what is now a dead horse. I could watch certain ep's from 1&2 again - on the mountain (El Capitan) and various other parts, but there is no appeal at all now and I couldn't watch S3 ever again for sure.
