What in the world was LOGO thinking...

...featuring this excruciatingly boring, pointless waste of celluloid -- and as a "gay" movie, no less?

A minor subplot featuring the self-loathing protagonist making a series of false starts with a gay prostitute does not a "gay movie" make. That LOGO would promote this piece of junk is unbelievable.

</rant off> Anyone else? Does anyone actually like this waste of time?

Logo has featured several "gay movies" recently that had nothing more than a subplot at best. For instance, while I do have a soft spot for British comedy, Four Weddings and a Funeral is not a gay film.

Other than that, the movie itself is just a waste of time. There isn't anything special about it at all to make me get over the low quality.

I'm watching this movie right now. I'm usually really impressed with Logo, but jesus.

"Remember, you must lose yourself completely in a sexual encounter. Your sister's life may depend on it."

What crap.

I rented it from Netflix - thank god. The writer and director should be mentally evaluated. A total waste of time that I'll never get back. Stunned and bummed by the ending, I watched part of it again with commentary from the director and writer to try and get some insight. They were fawning all over each other for making such a landmark classic and said very little about the actual movie. This will go into my top 10 all time worst films from a gay perspective. The current #1 holder is "The Windy City Incident" - #2 is "An Angel Named Billy" Those two movies make "In The Blood" seem like a work of art.

Just had to agree with agymle's assessment of "An Angel Named Billy." I haven't seen "The Windy City Incident" yet, but imagining anything worse than "An Angel Named Billy" is almost unfathomable...

According to logo, a queer storyline isn't the only thing that makes a movie queer. Often they promote a film simply because the actors/producer/director are gay. Other times they will promote a film because it is embraced by the gay community, Four Weddings and a Funeral is a perfect example.

But I hated this film.

I'm not saying this was a good film, and I didn't see it on LOGO because I don't get that channel, but if no one in this thread thinks this is a queer horror film, than clearly you weren't paying enough attention. Which is strange, because the poor psychic aunt's dialogue much beats the viewer over the head with the film's message. In order to save his sister from the fate in his psychic visions, the lead character has to have a fully realized passionate sexual encounter. Shtupping his girlfriend isn't going to work, because he's not straight. He has to come to terms with his queerness in order to save the life of his sister. But by the end we realize he was really foreseeing his own demise because his psychic powers were a little off. It's kinda like a poorly made gay Donnie Darko that doesn't really know what it's doing. But it's definitely a queer film.
