Missed first twenty minutes. Could someone fill me in? (Possible Spoiler

I just watched "Cradle of Lies" on Lifetime, but missed the first twenty minutes. Could someone tell answer the following questions?

1. Did the husband know he was infertile? If so, how did he expect his wives to get pregnant? Or was he in denial and/or blaming Haley and his first wife?

2. If he wasn't in denial, why did he punish her for his inability to procreate?

It would seem to me that he's in denial or delusional or he wouldn't have tortured her.

Any help will be appreciated.

^ Jack knew that he couldn't produce children, but He didn't tell Haley. He just told her that he wanted a son, but she didn't know the reason why he needed a son was because of the $50 million inheritance his grandfather left him. And when the police was questioning Haley when Jack was arrested, the discussion of his first wife came up. Haley mentioned to the police that when Jack's first wife died, she was pregnant. That's when Haley found out that Jack was infertile. So if you saw towards the end of the movie, Jack would drug Haley, and let that guy Roy that Haley met at dinner, have sex with her, and then she would get pregnant. He wasn't mad he couldn't proceate. He was upset because when they got pregnant, Haley told him, that the baby may be a girl. Jack went crazy because he knew that Haley needed to have a son in order for him to get the inheritance. But you know at the end, she ends up having a baby boy and gets the money.

Thanks for your response! It helped to put those later scenes into perspective! (I never thought missing the first 20 minutes would make such a difference.)

^ Yes I've come to the conclusion that if I come in on a LIFETIME movie towards the end or middle, I don't even watch it because I don't know what's going on.

I caught the second half of this movie last night on ABC. My question is, did they show the times when he would drug her and have Roy have sex with her?? I only saw a glimse of it on the videotape he showed her at the end. What exactly happened with the first wife that led to him killing her?? did they show any of that?

We saw him apologizing to Haley and gave her a drink. He went to take a shower and she had passed out. He then let Roy in and told him to do what he wanted with her, but it really didn't show anything. She woke up the next morning and asked Jack what had happened, which he told her they had a wonderful night and that she was amazing. Haley mentioned that she had an awful dream, but that it seemed like reality (alluding to the fact that Roy basically raped her), but nothing came of it. She found out that she had been raped when she was told Jack was incapable of having children and saw the evidence when he showed her the tape. As for his first wife, she wasn't pregnant and I guess because he wanted the inheritance, he decided to hire someone to kill her off, the same style that Michelle was killed in.

Sociopath, anyone?
This made for TV movie was a bit cheesy, but these people are out there.
I mean, he could've paid a woman for a son; just been honest and made some kind of "arrangement". He clearly had the money. He didn't mind arranging to have people killed...He was getting a different (and twisted) kind of kick out of the lying and deception.

That's the thing, he wanted ALL the money for himself. If he had let a woman in on it, then he would have had to share. Not to mention he had to be legally married to her. He wanted an unsuspecting woman he who he could impregnate (by alternative means), and once a son was born, collect the money and walk away from everything, wife and child included. Unfortunately it was this greed that lead him to where he ended up, in prison with nothing.
