Premise problem + spoiler

The movie was OK but heres my deliema - the baby's gender is dependent upon the male's sperm. Specifically, that a Y chromosome fertilize the X chromosome egg. So where I get hung up is why does he blame the wife for being pregent with (what he thought as) a girl. Granted the fact that I can accept the existence of someone as amoral and despicable at the central male character is somewhat sad, but really...If that was is plan, don't you think he'd have known SOMETHING more about reproduction, other than the basic, "Fit flap A into slot B; remove; repeat" kind of thing?

Not everyone seems to know baby sex is determined by the male.

Some people are just jerks like that.

I don't think he blames her or doesn't blame her. He just needs to have a boy to get money and when he thinks she's having a girl he just wants to get rid of her and go on to someone else. He doesn't care what he has to say or do to get rid of her.

Exactly. The whole point of his problem, is that he had to "conceive a son in marriage." According to the legal letter of the will, artificial insemination wouldn't have done the trick. The husband just wanted to kill her and the baby and move on to the next "wife."

She lied about the sex of the baby b/c she wanted to see how much he loved her despite the inheritance. It would have been a happy surprise for him when the child turned about to be a boy at birth; he would have gotten the inheritance and have a happy family. But he showed his true colors after she lied, not to mention when he drugged, raped and tried to kill her. He was a nasty, greedy piece of work that got what he deserved.

The whole plot was pretty ridiculous. How was he going to get rid of his wife, marry someone else and have a child in the space of 6 months?

reply

Hey, this is a Lifetime movie. The more ridiculous, the better.
