Whats the deal with the not real shroud of turin?
The vatican itself has said it isn't real/it's a hoax, so, besides historical preservation, why is there such a fuss over it in this film?

shareWhy make appeal to the Vatican's opinion on the matter, when peer reviewed science is what says that this thing isn't what it's been told to be? It's not like that institution hold any merits on getting things right with regards to reality.
I agree tho, that this is a pretty weird plot for a movie. What's next? A Da Vinci Code sequel where they hunt down a poster of the Mona Lisa? Riveting!
Because the Vatican has the most to gain if it is real. Like it or not, the Vatican has sway with the flock. By admitting it is not real, it greatly reduces the controversy.
shareNewsflash: Jesus wasn't real either. Are you really going to question the authenticity of the shroud!? It's a film.
shareNEWSFLASH: Jesus was a real historical human being. Whether you believe he is the son of god is your choice, but there is historical proof that Jesus lived!
share^^^this. There are recent documentaries on the shroud of turin. It seems it may in fact be quite old, about 2000 years old. Now whether the blood of the crucified man on the shroud is the historical Jesus is another matter.

I take it you haven't actually looked into the issue yourself and likely just believed an elder when told that falsehood.
Please show some of that historical PROOF. Just one contemporary who wrote about him while he was alive and knew him is all that I personally need.
