and how did he kill the kid? how did he end up in the water? I was waiting for an explanation the entire film and I did not get one. and how did they find out it was the teacher so fast? didn't the teacher know that all fingers would lead to him eventually? I found these missing details irritating

It could be intepreted as a number of things. He was interested in her and he didn't know how to act and took it out by committing that crime, or he wasn't interested in her and was just fed up with everything. His daughter's behavior is probably remnant of his parenting; that and he may just be a nut.
