Interstellar 2: The Revenge

Interstellar is great movie and a compelling setting: we need a sequel so how about this:

We know Dr Brandt made it to the other world and started a colony and that Cooper is on his way there….

There are problems with the new colony; equipment malfunctions and staff disappear. Brandt investigates the engineering level and comes across a badly burnt man who overpowers her and takes her hostage, he then says “You betrayed me! You left me behind! You thought you saw the last of…DR MANN!”

We didn’t actually see Dr Mann die and how did he travel to the new planet? Well, we can explain that away with “Using my superior intellect, I fashioned a craft from the debris in which you left me to die amongst and rescued another or our colleagues whom you stranded..behold…!”

Dr Romily then enters from the shadows looking in bad shape, he tells Dr Brandt “Mann rescued me, he saved me…we shared a tin of beans together and he taught me the truth, taught me that you left me behind to die.” He and Dr Mann then take over the colony and imprison Dr Brandt.

Cooper eventually lands and is arrested by the colonists. He escapes from his cell and hunts down Dr Mann. Dr Romily has a change of heart and tries to help Cooper but is killed by Dr Mann, leading to a bare chested fight between Cooper and Dr Mann in which Cooper - symbolizing modernity and heroism - gains the upper hand. Dr Mann then runs off to the self-destruct system and tries to blow up the colony in order to “continue the mission.” Cooper foils this, kills Dr Mann and saves Dr Brandt.

I’ve not ironed everything out but this is a good first draft, there’s a lot of drama and twists and turns here. What do you all think? I see this as more psychological horror so we don’t need to worry about the science.
