Extremely under-rated

I'm not even a fan of "typical" boxing movies (i.e. Ricky), but this was different and very well done. It touched many issues such as race, class struggle and even the need for redemption. The story telling and flow of the plot was amazing and holds the viewer till the very end. Nothing was sugarcoated and even though the main character Donnie (Rossif Sutherland) is flawed and has committed a heinous crime, he's still very human and likable. This is largely due to the raw talent of Sutherland, who in my humble opinion gave an Oscar worthy performance. He was able to beautifully convey the depth of remorse and regret of Donnie, without even speaking at times. Sutherland is definitely someone to keep an eye on, because if this is any indication of what is to come, we will be seeing much more of him. In regards to Danny Glover, what more needs to be said. He gave his usual outstanding performance.
Poor Boy's Game is definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, and is deserving of a lot more recognition. I recommend that everyone give it a chance, and you'll most likely walk away feeling that it was well worth your time.

TOTALLY agree. I caught this last week on TMC. Had never heard of it before. Very good movie. Sutherland was awesome, and you are so right about the depth of his character without him even speaking at times. Very powerful movie!!
