What book was George reading to Charlie?

It seemed like the book George was reading aloud to Charlie was relevant somehow, to the overall theme of the movie, but I never made out which book it was. Did anyone see?

I think the book must have had something to do with forgiveness or with peace because it seemed to anger Charlie's mother.
