To the disappointed...spoile rs in this post

I'm seeing lots of posts about being disappointed that there turned out to be no ghost. I actually think this part of the plot is one of it's strengths. When you find out the brother is the architect of all those photos, you get lulled into a false sense of security. This makes the ending when you see the her phone photo of her own impending death really pack a punch in my opinion.

Exactly, I think it was a superb storytelling mechanics. I never saw any other ghost story that turns out to be a scam in the middle of the movie, until the twist in the end. This was a big surprise that maintained interest.

I'm not really convinced there were any ghosts at all. Instead, Alice seems to be able to see the future. And when she does, there's a ghostly version of herself in the future. Like she's astral projecting and able to do so into the future.

Perhaps this helps tie in to the movie's psychic. These sorts of psychic powers may be real, and Alice's are just extra powerful.

I think what Alice saw was a death omen

I felt like Alice was haunted by her own ghost, what she would become in the future. And she got to become the ghost prematurely in her dreams. It was like the past and the present, the world of the living and the world of the dead, blended together to become one. The ending was very good.
