AWFUL! Watch DANCE OF THE DEAD instead...

It actually has some likeable characters, tolerable acting, decent editing, a few laughs, and unexpected heart. You'll find none of those in the thoroughly lame Jack Brooks, and it had a bigger budget than Dance.

Never heard of it, but it sounds promising. Thanks for the recommendation. I actually didn't mind Jack Brooks at all, so I guess I'll love this one?

Haven't seen dance of the dead yet, i'll check it out. But jack brooks was just bad, takes sooo long to get going. It's 50 minutes of literally nothing happening, then a professor changes and attacks with some lame tentacle things that we've seen a million times before, then from 70-90 mins it's jack "monster hunting", which apparently means chopping tentacles and blowing up a monster with some salt.

The first half was supposed to be funny, but it was just hard to sit through, we almost turned it off several times. Literally nobody I watched it with was laughing. We could tell they were supposed to be funny lines, but they just weren't...

I kept thinking, 'when is this gonna get going?', then the professor changes and I got ready for some awesome monster killings (finally, after almost an hour of a 90 minute movie!), but what i got was 30 year olds running down a high school hallway, and 2 zombie face smashings...also the title is misleading, he kills ONE monster in 90 mins...the rest are zombies that the professor infected, and the end troll is not killed, it goes to a lame freeze frame...should have been called "Jack Brooks: 10 mins of good footage"...

Lack of a sense of humor is not the fault of the filmmakers. Zombies? You, my friend, obviously know nothing of monsters OR zombies. I think an axe through the chest is a definite kill. If you'd been paying attention, even Robert Englund points out that it isn't "salt."

If you didn't like it, that's perfectly fine. But don't spout off "facts" when you obviously weren't paying attention from the start.

I agree, it was lame and a waste of buzz. Why are people so desperate for something to be good that they fool themselves into believing drivel like this is acceptable. FAIL.

They were etablishing the character! The open ending and the end narration tells me this was the story of Jack Brook's overcoming his anger and the way he found to put it in use in a positive way! If the movie would have a sequel, I'm pretty sure that it would have much more action seing how he put it in use in a positify way, full time it recluse part of the world!

I just watched this and was thinking, I wish I was watching Dance of the Dead instead, or even Boy eats Girl.

Also I thought this seemed like My Name is Bruce, without Bruce Campbell, or the MILF, or the kid, or Ted Raimi, or the evil dead injokes, or the witty dialogue, or the...

Are you for real? I LOVE Evil Dead and Bruce, but 'My Name Is Bruce' is horrendous! I ended up turning it off which I rarely do. Jack Brooks was tons better!

Dance of the Dead was *beep* too...

You can't tell me what to do, yah whippersnapper.

You will know you have done this correctly if one or more nipples are exposed.

reply

I've seen both and Jack Brooks is better. Dance was decent, but the main kid couldn't act very well.

Jack Brooks just kicked a lot of ass. and Dance seemed incomplete with that ending.

reply

I enjoyed Jack Brooks especially his angry rants lol I rented Dance of the Dead after seeing the trailer and was pretty disappointed.

Not sure if you are trolling Dance of the dead was HORRIBLE RE was the only saving grace in that movie. Not to mention almost all the MOH movies sucked.

Jack brooks is a perfect example of what great acting can do for a less than stellar script. It took what would have been an otherwise lame film and turned it into a great addition to the comic/horror genre. Dance of the Dead has nothing on Jack Brooks. I would love to see a sequel.

Still Shooting With Film!

Well, I enjoyed Jack Brooks as a fun slice of b-movie trash, Dance of the Dead on the other hand is awful! I really don't get the love for that piece of *beep*

Other than both being some kind of horror and both having Robert Englund in them, I'm not sure what these two movies have in common.

I mean, why would a person who enjoys comedic, gross-out splatter necessarily enjoy a dark, post-apocalyptic... family drama/romance with horror elements? (Don't get me wrong; I enjoyed both in different ways.)

I just don't see the argument for Dance of the Dead here. Maybe if you said to try Dead Alive, which is in a similar vein, but Dance of the Dead is too different to compare.
