This Sucked for So Many Reasons...and heres why

It was discovered that Kimberly J Brown was in fact available to do this movie but since Disney sucks they decided to recast her for no reason whatsoever...so Thats Flaw #1...Flaw #2 is that grandma aggie who we all love so much is only in one tiny scene which nobody cared for...Flaw#3 is that the only reason why Lucas Grabeel was in it is because high school musical was so popular at the time that they figured he would draw more viewers...Flaw #4 is that harly any of the characters from the previous films is back, including Kalabar, Kal, Luke, Gord, Astrid, Harriet or any of the funny ones like the hairdresser wolfman or the sweaty ghost...those were the ones we loved not the friggin sinister sisters...this movie was one of the starts of the downfall of disney channel...im suprised they didnt ask miley cyrus to play marnie...the previous movie Halloweentown High was also a dissapointment mainly because they didnt even go to Halloweentown, so it was pointless...but this movie was half assed, disappointing, nothing like the first 2 and even worse than number 3...it was strictly made for money and for populairty...so stick with Halloweentown and Halloweentown 2

I actually like all of the movies, although the first 3 are definitely the best (and 1 and 2 the very best). I would have liked this one better if it still had Kimberly. That is odd they recast her when she could have played the role. That doesn't make much sense and seems rather rude to the original actress. I also think it's kind of odd Ethan is still in the movie but none of the others are. It also stinks the grandmother had such a limited role.

Don't forget they left sophie out too...

Yea her and Agatha were the only one I really missed. Plot wise makes sense for her to not be there as she could have explained everything from the beginning, but still been nice to have her at least show up at the end to help out or something, get more screen time than she had.
Never really cared about other characters from town not returning as they were never that integral or big of parts with two exceptions.
Would have been nice to have Luke recur through them. He was really built up in the first two movies then just forgotten. Since he wasn't in Halloweentown High his absence wasn't as bad here.
Also would have like to see Kal come back as he vowed to return at the end of 2.

I fully agree and if anyone has not seen it yet, do NOT watch it around Halloween because I guarantee it won't bring you any spirit, just boredom.
Indeed, the only decent ones are parts one and two.

Halloween is coming, dare ye listen?

OMG that pisses me off knowing the real Marnie was available and Disney was just being dumb as f---

i was wondering where Kimberly was---i knew sara paxton cause she was in a lot of movies i watched in 2006 lol but maybe they thought we were so young & naive we wouldn't notice it was a different Marnie? xD

I always thought she was busy and wasn't available. Then I came here to see in the trivia they just didn't cast her. Morons. You can't change an actress like that because the original was perfect. Sara Paxton wasn't marnie. She isn't a bad actress but she can't be the marnie we loved for three movies. The main reason this one is so hated is because they changed out actresses. This movie would've been more accepted and loved had they not changed and maybe more would still be getting made (although, none will ever beat out the original two and even Halloweentown High).

Agreed. This movie was bad. I hate recastings.

The Halloweentown series of Disney Channel Original Movies was killed by its fourth installment, Return to Halloweentown in 2006. The film met bad publicity right out of the gate when it recast the series' protagonist Marnie, replacing Kimberly J. Brown with Sara Paxton even though a) Brown was available and b) Paxton looked nothing like her — which turned out to be the first in a series of questionable casting decisions, particularly an expansion of Lucas Grabeel's role from the previous film, a move that seemed designed purely to cash in on his newfound stardom from High School Musical. The writing was also seen as reflective of the Disney Channel's Network Decay, tilting away from the family comedy of the prior three films and straight into the Girl-Show Ghetto. While the film garnered the strongest ratings of any film in the series, its poor reception by fans ensured that no new Halloweentown films would be made, and the death of Debbie Reynolds (who played the key supporting character Aggie) in 2016 merely poured more dirt over the grave.
