'Allied forces occupy Germany'

As a Pole (Polish man) I was a little bit disgusted with "Allied forces occupy Germany"... Who else could write it, then proud American movie writer/director? Eh...

I think you might have made a mistake in your OP title - don't you mean 'US forces occupy Germany'?? instead of 'allied' (there is an edit function btw)

It's discussed in the thread 'Gawd Bless America'. The writer and director are actually, respectively, Australian and British. Still, I'd argue that there is a gradual change in perception which sees the liberation of Western Europe as being generally an 'American' thing.

Further still, if you're Polish aren't you more concerned about Poles being charaterised as a bunch of Nazis? (ie Unsere mutter unsere Vater / generation war).

Don't be so sensitive. I think at some point, Stuttgart was mentioned, but other than that, I don't think we're told in what city this story is set; or even country for that matter. As a Polish citizen (you, not me of course) I thought you would be a hair more in tune about what happened south of the Polish border, in a little country known as Czechoslovakia.

What rallies (and visits) took place in ?esky Krumlov and who reached Plze? first? Hint: it wasn't necessarily the Allied forces as a collective but one country in particular, stopping short of entering Prague.

It's a great pity the US didn't stay there and stop Stalinism from taking over Czechoslovakia. The British had a lot more success keeping the soviets out of Denmark.

The movie takes place in Germany they've made that very clear.

Did they?

Yes, Kristallhact took place in Germany only, that was before Hitler invaded any other countries. The characters also speak German and have German names, not French, Polish, Dutch, or any other invaded country. Plus we see the Nazis in power and the Nazi flag in the schools, all before WW2 actually started. WW2 only started in 1939 when the Nazis invaded Poland and France. They also sing the German national anthem in the school and all the street signs in the city are in German.

Not to mention the subtitle early on that says: Germany, February 1938
Being a college graduate, I took this to mean it is set somewhere in Germany.
