One of the worst movies ever

Yes, this movie could have been titled "People stuck in a tree in Australia". Most of the moving was boring, the few "thriller" scenes that made it in the least bit interesting had me screaming at the TV because of how absolutely dumb the people were and pretty much the whole movie could have been done in 20 minutes. Instead we spend almost 2 hours listening to them chit chat about being stuck in the tree, tree hopping, and how to get the boat back. YAWN. Horrible. Don't waste your time. I can't get those 2 hours back of my life and I deeply regret it.

most cliched post ever.

if all the people saying they can't get their movie viewing time back got it, we'd have enough time to start the history of the world all over again.

reply

Not the worst movie in the world - thats another story altogether. But a bag of *beep* non the less!!

Horrible, most disappointed ive been from a thriller/horror since "Night of the living dead 1990" and it made some solid attempts at stealing the "most boring movie" from Dracula III: Legacy and The Aviator.

My second 1/10 along side Night of the Living Dead (1990), may bump it up to a 2/10 because there was some cleavage...

It was good! Not exactly the best ending, but still worth it

I've seen TERRIBLE movies that get great reviews (ie 28 weeks later, Phantom Menace). This isn't a terrible movie. I'm not sure if you were waiting for an X-Wing to blow up the crocodile using the Force and the human spirit, guided by a wise ghost, but I enjoyed it.

Lol please tell me who gave The Phantom Menace a good review...

if this is one of the worst movies you have seen, you can't be a frequent movie-watcher.

I totally agree with that. I rented this movie a couple of months ago and I was pleased and surprised to see how good it was, especially for such a low-budget movie. I'd rate it an 8/10.

reply

I give it an 8.5/10. I enjoy watching low-budget horror, but I was completely surprised by just how genuinely good Black Water was. The acting was terrific (especially from the ultra-cute Maeve Dermody), the direction was first-rate, and the suspense was so palpable I was on the edge of my seat from the moment the boat was knocked over all the way to the end, which was almost unbearably tense and exciting (a good 70 minutes of non-stop suspense!).

reply

I agree with Li, this was a great movie, I think everyone has to remember that this was based on true events, and real life rarely happens like Hollywood blockbusters.

All in all I think this was a first rate, suspenseful re-telling of what I am sure was a truly horrifying event.

It was also made on only $1.3 mill, while Rogue was made for $30 mill. I liked this one better than Rogue.

I simply am not there...

Agreed! I think it was really well done and so cleverly made and acted and all on such a small budget. Rogue was the bigger film with a bigger croc, cast and the like. But Blackwater IMO is a better film with a more realistic plot.

You obviously haven't seen any of the 'Cube' films, now they are contenders for the worst films ever!

I watched this movie right through, but wouldn't rate it highly. I thought they could've made a much more suspense-filled movie. I personally found it boring, watching them chat away in the tree for the entire 2 hours! And like the first poster on this thread... I was also screaming out the TV everytime they did something totally stupid!

Pretty mediocre. IMO not worth the time. Check out WOLF CREEK for a great horror flick that'll have you covering your eyes in terror! Far better executed than this.
