The English dub cast, and ADR director for Bandai's upcoming release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, has been announced in The Adventures of the ASOS Brigade: Episode 002, which was uploaded to the ASOS Brigade website last night.

Yuki Nagato - Michelle Ruff
Kyon - Crispin Freeman
Itsuki Koizumi - Johnny Yong Bosch
Ryouko Asakura - Bridget Hoffman
Tsuruya-san - Kari Wahlgren

The Adventures of the ASOS Brigade: Episode 002 can be seen here.

Volume 1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will be released by Bandai Entertainment on May 29

That's interesting.

Crispin Freeman as Kyon will be interesting mainly because I've only seen Crispin in serious roles, e.g. Alucard (Hellsing) and Tsume (Wolf's Rain) and to see him as a comedic character will be fresh to me.

I'm glad Wendee Lee's gonna play Haruhi. Although I didn't really expect her to get the role.

Stephanie Sheh as Mikuru-chan was expected, as was Bosch as Itsuki.

I'm surprised Michelle Ruff got the role as Yuki, because last I heard, it was either her or Kate Higgins (Sakura - Naruto) with Kate being the favourite.

Hopefully Michelle can give a better performance as Yuki rather than her horrendous job she did with Rukia from Bleach.

All in all, I'm looking foward to the english dub of this. :D

Oh, that I'm not sure at the moment.

I'm not digging the cast, at all.

"She just loves to bake apple pie!"

neither am i. Wendee Lee's voice just doesnt match suzumiya-san at all. It makes me want to cry every time i hear the dub previews.

Thankfully we'll get the original Japanese voices with subtitles, as well.

The dub quality doesn't really matter to me all that much. It's intended more for those who haven't seen the original version at all, and haven't been spoiled by the original voices.

If you want to see Crispin in a fun role, watch the English version of Angel Sanctuary. It's pretty bad, really, but in a way that always struck me as hilarious--and Crispin Freeman voices the psychotic prettyboy angel-in-love-with-his-sister, Rosiel. He sounds really different when he's pulling a less serious, stoic role. ^^
