Miss Jamestown Playground

Does anyone know why the reference to "Miss Jamestown Playground" was funny?

Could it be the character is from back East in like Jamestown, NY? So
goofing on how all the young wannabe starlets have Miss This & That on
their resumes. And Playground, well leave that to your imagination.
Love the series but seems to be trimmed shorted now. They run all that
unnecessary IFC crap at both ends. Ok we get the idea that this is the
most hip show and audience (following The Biz), let's feed them the hot buzz.
But running the danger of overdoing it.
Terrifically funny two shows tho. Tara was esp funny this week with that
cursed luck boy friend. Show just flew by/

i totally agree about seriously cutting back on the ifc promotional stuff.
but, you know, this has become a trend in network programming: they start promoting other shows before the one you're watching is even over; or they run the promos (bottom of the screen) during the show you're watching...annoying as h-e-double hockey sticks! (l.o.l.)

Yup it's a real scam now. Other tricks TNT moving next week's promo
5 mins into the following show. Or making you go to their web site.
How boring.
Oh did you see today's NY Times story on just the IFC filler we're
discussing! Check it out before NYT removes story after a week or so.
Cable channels are as greedy as anyone in USA. They get viewer in so
many ways, now this too. Enjoy! lol

Outrageous Farce From R. Kelly: He’s in on the Joke, Right?
By KELEFA SANNEH
There is something slightly unnerving about the kind of attention R. Kelly’s audiovisual opus, “Trapped in the Closet,” has received
Back then, Mr. Kelly promised that “Trapped” would return, and now it has: the IFC channel’s Web site has been showing a new episode every day, leading up to tomorrow’s DVD release of “Trapped in the Closet: Chapters 13-22” (Jive).
