One of the most intelligent things

I just read her bio on imdb and came across something that Amanda Bynes said that I thought was one of the most intelligent things I have heard from an actress, actor, ect. That is.

"I want to be known for the work I've done, as opposed to where I go on Saturday nights...I like to let loose just like anyone else, but I don't want to be photographed doing it."

After reading that part I have even more respect for Amanda Bynes then I did before. Everyone in her line of work wants attention and publicity. There is nothing wrong with that at all. It's the way some of these people go around getting the publicity. I have not come across any stories of Amanda Bynes drinking and driving, attacking people, going on a drug binge and all the other stupid things you read about these so called stars doing and saying. To be honest, I have never gone searching for stories like this. It nice to hear that someone wants to be known for the work they have done and not for being a dumb-ass.

I agree. It's one of the many reasons I love Amanda. She's just so chill and funny.

Yes. They absolutely want to be photographed--this is how it's worked in Hollywood for years. Low-key actors remain that way because they DO NOT go out to get publicity.

The old adage, "There is no such thing as bad publicity" is actually very true out there in Hollywood.

Actors have PR reps who try to maintain their spotlight. The way to do this is to get them out on the town, and as for the younger ones, to get them partying like rock-stars--something most of their ilk would do if they could go jet-setting and getting into clubs and getting an all-access pass to alcohol.

Then what happens is a bunch of people who love to live vicariously through these gluttonous so-called "stars" rush out and by stories about them.
Any perceived "bad" publicity can often be spun, and most people of mature age know that no matter how bad things are, in all likelihood, it will be forgotten and something else will take its place.

Do you understand that these peopole know there is paparazzi and where they are most likely staked out? They go out partying willingly and know they will, most likely, be photographed. Brittany, or Britany, or however she spells it, was in the spotlight for so long because not only was her downward spiral delicious to these people (who like to revel in the lives of the stars as well as their downfall), but because she was out there where she could be photographed. They do not always want the attention, this is true. But they DO very often use it to their advantage.

And while it's true that these stars can be embarrassed by their behavior, these same PR reps tell them how to behave...by blowing it off, or maybe apologizing, etc., etc...

Judging by your ignorance on this issue, I assume you're very young and so therefore do not understand how a lot of things in life work. But don't worry...you'll get there! :O)

Celebrities like Lindsey Lohan DO like the spotlight when they're out getting drunk. If they didn't, they wouldn't go out and party where they know they'll be photographed. I think Lohan just wants to be labeled as a badass, and so do other actresses, most likely. Or, you know, as long as they're being talked about, that's all that really matter.

"her comments imply that who you are as a person doesn't matter. As long as your image is good.. thats all that matters."

Sorry, but I do not agree with this. What I think Amanda was trying to communicate was that her career is being an actress--She is supposed to act, portray another character on screen. She's saying that she wants people to know her for her acting, as they are supposed to, and not know her for the things people read about her magazines. Like Paris Hilton, who is NOT recognized for her acting, singing, etc. She is popular for her random publicity. Amanda doesn't want to be associated with that kind of stuff. She wants people to know her for her acting.

"1- you think people like Lindsay Lohan want to be photographed when they are drunk...."

If she didn't wanna be photographed while she
was on her drunken esacpades without underwear,
she shouldn't be doing what she's doing.
She would act more responsible and less like an idiot.

Still, do you know how easy it is not to be photographed while you're snorting? That's the kind of thing you don't do in the middle of a crowded party; you do it in your bathroom so that no one can take a picture of it.

Safe shooting-up is just like safe sex. When it fails, it's not your fault. However, taking drugs where people can point cameras at you is like having sex without birth control: That pregnancy/photograph is your fault.

So yeah, she is acting like an idiot.

It's different than the sex and pregnant thing.
She can drink and get drunk on her own time
and in her own house.
Like I said, she should be more responsible
and make better decisions. She knows what she gets into,
gets mad about all the fuss that the press makes,
and then continues to make more bad decisions.
She pretty much ASKS for all the bad publicity she gets.

And you know... being a dick on the internet really doesn't make you cool.
