I wathced this last night and I was under-impressed. The only reason I rented this and finished watching it is because of Jill Marie Jones. I miss her so much on Girlfriends. I liked both lead actors. The male lead looks so much like Keenan Ivory Wayans it's crazy. All in all the story was just not that great. By the way, I did get this from Blockbuster.
It was by no means a perfect flick, but I gotta say I liked it.
Choppy editing? Sure.
Production values similar to "Red Shoe Diaries"? You betcha.
Cheesy incidental music? Of course.
Less than thorough character development? Uh huh.
But I liked it despite these flaws. I thought it was a charming little indy flick. I liked the silly, over-the-top performances. The plot moved along at a nice steady clip. And it made me laugh out loud at least 15 times. It's been a while since a movie has done that (intentionally).
All and all, a pretty good effort for a first time director. I'm looking forward to his future efforts.
I also watched it because of the sexy, chocoliscious Jill Marie Jones. I did not know Terri J Vaughn was in it too. Two for one! The movie itself was pretty good, had some funny moments.
I thought Redrum was interesting, but thought it would have been better if it were truly a suspense film or played seriously rather than as a comedy. It is rare to see blacks cast as the murderers in this type of film.
This movie was so stupid. They tried to make a horror comedy but failed. I wouldn't blame the actors though..they were given crappy material to work with.
