In-Game Problems

Ok. I'm not very big with computers and I need a bit of help. I have a brand new Windows XP computer, and just downloaded the game, but in-game there are problems. The very first cutscene where the plane goes down works fine. However, the part where the new character (I believe he is a photojournalist?) opens his eye (reminiscent of Jack in the pilot) and stands up is jerky and he moves like a robot rather than fluidly. And I have already checked the game's requirements with what my computer has and so far, I find that everything should be okay. And I have also heard of patches I could download on the computer to improve the mechanics of the game but I can not find any for this game. And last, I just read on the back of the box something about a video card. Would that help? Any responses or suggestions/advice is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm having the exact same problem... I've looked for solutions to it and no one is able to help me. Did you ever get the game to play normally?

its the video card and also the settings you need to turn vertical sync on and if the video card controls have the option do it there too. It did the same thing for me until I played around with the specs of the video card and settings on the game prior to starting the game. There is another menu that comes up I believe when you put the cd in that allows you to change some settings.
